A one-day National Seminar on “Internet of things” was conducted by Department of Computer Science on 12th September 2017. Various participants from cities around Bengaluru attended the seminar to expand their knowledge about the current buzz-word.
The seminar started with the welcoming words of Dr. Karthik K, followed by the Inaugural speech by Dr. Anil Joseph Pinto, Registrar, Christ University.
Later, Dr. P. Prabhu gave the inaugural vote of thanks, welcoming the speakers of the day.
Various topics pertaining to the entire IoT umbrella were covered such as Business in IoT, security, applications of IoT, with their respective questionnaire rounds.
Three major sessions were held by the guest speakers that explained new things about IoT.
The first session was conducted by Mr. Harisaravanan Ranganathan, Sr. Vice President, GA Softech, Bengaluru on “Business in IoT”. This talk covered most of the commercial aspects of IoT with a lot of examples Insurance applications and privacy. The talk was very informative and enlightening.
The next session was taken by Dr. T. Sentilnathan T, Associate Professor, Department of Computer Science on “Security in IoT”. That discussed various aspects of security and the protocols that are supposed to be used.
This session was then followed by Yann Lawson Cedric, who demonstrated a security algorithm for data transmission in Raspberry Pi. The Seminar had a one-hour lunch break after that.
Then the third session was followed up by the duo from Microsoft, Mr. Amit Kumar Tripathi, Azure Web Apps Support Engineer and Mr. Neelakandan Subramaniam, Support Engineer – Azure Web App, Microsoft, spoke on “Hands-on Training on Raspberry Pi”. They presented on applications in navigation systems. They later demonstrated the connectivity with a nodeMCU board as sensors with Raspberry Pi and Blynk app as a remote monitor. They also had an interesting questionnaire round, which was quite informative as well.
The sessions were then followed by the valedictory ceremony. Dr. Manoj Kumar Mishra gave the Valedictory Speech. Finally, the seminar was concluded by the Vote of thanks by Dr. R Sivakumar.
