Dr. Badrinarayan Shankar Pawar received PhD from Oklahoma State University in 1996 (with the highest possible cumulative GPA of 4 out 4). He received the membership of Phi Kappa Phi in recognition of his academic performance in the PhD program. His immediate last position was Professor and Dean (Research) at National Institute of Bank Management, Pune.

Distinctions/Accomplishments

Received the highest possible grade point average (GPA) of 4 out of 4 in the PhD studies at Oklahoma State University.
Received the membership of Phi Kappa Phi in 1996 in recognition of his academic performance in the PhD program.
Was a departmental nominee (but not the recipient) for Graduate Research Excellence Award for his doctoral dissertation at Oklahoma State University in 1996.

A research paper titled "Research Productivity in Management Schools in India: A Directional Benefit-of-Doubt Model Analysis" (Sahoo, Singh, Mishra, Sankaran, 2015), used various research outcome indicators to identify top 10 most productive researchers in various areas of Management in Management Schools in India. His name was identified in the list of top 10 most productive researchers in the area of OB&HRM in Management Schools in India (Table 10 on page 25-26 of Sahoo et al., 2015) and another research article by Sahoo et al. (2016, Table A4 on page 19) identified his name in the list of "Top 10 subject matter experts" in the area of OB&HRM in management schools in India.

Research Areas

He has done research in various areas including organizational citizenship behavior and transformational leadership. His current area of research is workplace spirituality. His single-authored or coauthored academic works include articles published in Academy of Management Review, Long Range Planning, Journal of Business Ethics, Applied Research in Quality of Life, Leadership and Organizational Development Journal, International Journal of Management Education, Employee Relations, Best Papers Proceedings of the Academy of Management, two chapters in books published in the USA and Netherlands and paper presentations at the Academy of Management. He has also served as the guest editor for a special issue of Journal of Organizational Change Management on transformational leadership (2004, Volume 17(2); “Emerald” journal; “B” category in ABDC Journal Quality List 2013). His most recent publications include seven articles since 2008 on topics related to workplace spirituality. He has also published two books. In 2009, his book “Theory Building for Hypothesis Specification in Organizational Studies” and in year 2010 his book (coauthored) “Academic Writing: A Guide for Management Students and Researchers” was published by Response Books (Business books from SAGE): New Delhi. His coauthored book “Academic Writing: A Guide for Management Students and Researchers” was recently chosen by the publisher to be translated into Hindi and its Hindi translation version was recently published. Most of his journal articles are published in refereed journals located abroad. Overall, the total of ISI impact factors of his published single-authored and co-authored research articles exceeds 27. For his single-authored workplace spirituality research articles the number of citations received exceeds 500 and for his entire published single-authored and co-authored works, the number of citations received totals to over 1,600 and h-index is 12 (as reported at http://scholar.google.co.in/ in September 2018). Teaching

He has taught for about two decades at various universities/institutes including Oklahoma State University, City University of Hong Kong, and various premier academic institutes in India. Subjects taught include human resource management (undergraduate students), organizational behavior-related subjects (postgraduate students and Fellow Program in Management [FPM] –a doctoral level program- students), business research methods (postgraduate students), positivistic/quantitative research methods (mostly PhD/FPM students) and qualitative research (FPM students). He has taught (positivistic/quantitative) academic research methods course to PhD/FPM students for about a decade and has taught qualitative research methods course for a couple of years to FPM students.

Training

He has singlehandedly designed and taught 8 (5 at IIMK and 3 at other institutes) faculty development programs (FDPs) on academic research and19 management development programs on enhancing employee performance and well-being through leadership, justice, support, and spirituality. He attempts to integrate inputs from his research with his training and teaching. For his 14 singlehandedly taught training programs (MDPs) at NIBM campus, during years 2015-2019, on Enhancing Employee Performance and Wellbeing through Leadership, Justice, Support, and Spirituality, 198 out of 210 sessions [15 sessions in each of the 14 MDPs] singlehandedly taught by him have received the ratings of 4.8, 4.9, or 5 out of 5 [5 = “Excellent” is the highest possible rating])
