Vimala College has a ‘Zero Tolerance’ Policy towards Ragging. Ragging is strictly prohibited in the campus by law. The Anti Ragging Cell constituted in the College handles issues related to any act of ragging and strict action will be taken against the perpetrators of such incidents 

The College is bound by the UGC Regulations on Curbing the Menace of Ragging in Higher Educational Institutions 2009 dated 17 June 2009, as Gazetted on 4 July 2009 and the amendments thereto from time to time.

What Constitutes Ragging?

1. Any disorderly conduct whether by words spoken or written or by an act which has the effect of teasing, treating or handling with rudeness a fresher or a junior student.

2. Indulging in a rowdy or undisciplined activities which causes or is likely to cause annoyance, hardship or psychological harm or to raise fear or apprehension thereof in a fresher or a junior student.

 3. Asking the students to do any act or perform something which such student will not do in the ordinary course and which has the effect of causing or generating a sense of shame or embarrassment so as to adversely affect the physique or psyche of a fresher or a junior student.

Any student affected by or subjected to Ragging must lodge a complaint to any member of the Anti-Ragging Cell as displayed on the website and  student handbook within three working days of the incident duly citing the date, time and place of the incident, name and details of the student/s involved and the nature / act of ragging

International Student Cell is a resource center for the International collaborations of the college which was established in the academic year 2019 - 20. It facilitates the development of Memorandum of Understanding and partnership with universities abroad and international organisations. It aims to promote the exchange of students and scholars among the different universities across the globe for academic programmes, Internships, Joint research programmes and Capacity building programs.

The college signed Memorandum of Understanding with four institutions such as St.Augustine College, South Africa, Kadambari Memorial College of Science and Management, Kathmandu, St.Xavier’s College, Kathmandu and  SCIO Scholarship & Christianity in Oxford, University of Oxford, UK.

In 2019 – 20, as part of the student exchange programme, Ms Smriti Shreshtha and Ms Shriya Shreshtha, two Bachelor of Social Work (BSW) students from St. Xavier’s College, Kathmandu has completed a three-week internship with Department of Social Work, Vimala College from 04/01/20 to 23/01/20. The internship consists of field visits to various social welfare organisations such as District Child Protection Unit, ATMA foundation and Gurukulam, Palliative and Hospice Care Unit, District Legal Aid Service and Mediation Centre, District Probation Office and Child Welfare Committee. The interns were involved with article reviews, attending the workshops and regular classes too.

Students' Union Activities

Vimala college has a vibrant students' union which is very energetic and dynamic when it comes to representing students interests. The student union council enhance the overall experience at Vimala College by promoting general welfare and concerns of the student body by providing new programs and initiatives for the students. Every union fashions it's own logo and motto once the elections are over and select a special theme for the years activities.

This year's union has picked 'satkriti' with the motto good thoughts and good actions. The logo depicts two hands which is helping each other and that inturn improves our mental state and health.

The kalamkari MMX1X Fine Arts Inauguration was held on 12/12/2019 by cine artist Mr. Sarjano Khalid. The event introduced the 4 kalamkari Groups followed by Kalamkari Fashion show.

 

A mobile phone search squad has been constituted as per directions from the government. The squad holds the right to conduct raids, confiscate mobile phones and take disciplinary action against those who bring mobile phones to the campus. Mobile phones, camera and other electronic gadgets for entertainment are prohibited in campus.

Anti Narcotic Club, Vimala College (Autonomous) Thrissur

As per the order of Govt.of Kerala GO(MS)No 205/2013/Nov,TVM dt 09/12/2013 an Anti Narcotic club was constituted at Vimala College(Autonomous), Thrissur.

                  Sri.V.R.Devadas, Excise Range Inspector, Kolazhy inaugurating the Anti-Narcotic Club,Vimala College(Autonomous), Thrissur​.

Objectives
The main objectives of the club are to prevent drug abuse, alcohol abuse among the youngsters. Students should be made aware of the harmful social and health effects of illicit drugs and the measures to be taken to prevent its use. Monitoring and reporting anti social activities in the vicinity of the college.
