Day Celebrations

MOLE DAY 2020

To encourage the students interest in chemistry, PG Dept. Chemistry (Vimala College) organised an Intercollegiate Puzzle as well as Quiz Competitions on 23rd October 2020. The competitions were conducted via Online Platform such as Google Meet.

100 YEARS OF POLYMER CHEMISTRY

Post Graduate Department of Chemistry celebrated 100 years of Polymer science as a tribute to the great scientist Prof. Hermann Staudinger, CHAINED on 24-26 August 2020. Various competitions were conducted in connect with this programme for college students. This programme was coordinated by Dr. Jiji Abraham and Ms. Nimitha KC. Student coordinators are Tinu Norby, Neeraja SS, Anju TJ, Ashika Marina, Sunil, Rimisha CF. Total 510 students participated in this programme.

OZONE DAY CELEBRATION 2020 

Every year on September 16, we celebrate International Day for the Preservation of the Ozone layer. This is to make awareness among the students about the significance of ozone layer preservation, climate change and related environmental issues. The theme of this year’s celebration was ‘Ozone for life: 35 years of ozone layer protection’. As a part of Ozone Day Celebration 2020, Post Graduate Department of Chemistry organized a Webinar on 16th September 2020. The event took place at 9.30 am via Google Meet. Dr. Louise Ko Huang, Assistant Dean of Undergraduate Studies, College of Liberal Arts & Sciences (CLAS), Azusa Pacific University, CA. was the chief guest of the event. The welcome address was proposed by Dr. Theresa C. J, Head of the Chemistry Department. The presidential address was given by our respected Principal, Dr. Sr. Beena Jose. It was followed by a talk on the topic ‘Catastrophe Meets Unity: 35 years of Protecting the Ozone Layer’ by Dr. Louise Ko Huang. Both graduate and undergraduate students of Vimala College and faculty members from various institutions participated in the event.
