Pre- Board Meeting Held on 2nd January 2020

The Pre-Board meeting of the stake holders and industry representatives for evaluating the B.Com and M.Com Syllabus was held on 2nd January, 2020, at 10 am in the Silver Jubilee Hall. Teachers, twenty two students, ten parents, two alumnae and three industry representatives took part in the same. The meeting concluded at 1.15 pm.

Business Track 2K19 instituted by Dr.Sr. Lissy John Irimpan Endowment

          

Business Track which is intended to awaken the talent creativity in youngsters is the brainchild of our former Principal and faculty Dr.Sr.Lissy John Irimpan. Nearly 200 students from various colleges participated in five events namely Best Manager, Business Quiz, Treasure Hunt, Spot Photography and Dance (spot and pair) held on 18th December 2019. 

Tourism day celebrations –2019

21st November 2019, Thursday (10.30am – 11.30 am)

“JAMBOREE 2019, around the world in 60 min “- the tourism day celebrations was conducted by the PG dept. of Commerce and Research Centre, Vimala College (Autonomous) on 21st November, Thursday, during the Association hour (10.30am – 11.30 am) in due presence of the whole college, in the collective effort of all students belonging to the Dept. of Commerce, lead by the second year UG students.

The title “JAMBOREE”, around the world in 60 min-conceptualized the central theme of the programme; a glance through the variety of cultural and aesthetic phenomenon of the world in an hour. Students of each year (UG) had chosen variety of places covering almost whole of the world, including

• • Egypt(S4, BCom (self))
• • Australia(S1, BCom (regular))
• • Mexico(S2, BCom (self))
• • India (S6, BCom (self))

 

The event began with a welcome speech rendered by Sruthy and Arunima (S4, BCom (self)) in due presence of Head of Commerce Dept. Ms. Rose VJ and all faculties and students. The programme was officially winded up by 11.30 am with vote of thanks rendered by Rahina MI (S4, BCom (regular)).

The department of commerce in connection with Accounts academy, Thrissur has organized an orientation class on “accounting aptitude for modern world” for all the B.Com and M.Com students on 19/07/2019 at 10.30 am

Seminar

A seminar on GST was organized in association with Keltron knowledge centre, Thrissur on 11/07/2019 at 2 pm in college auditorium for all the B.Com students. An introduction on GST was given by V M Jacob, director of keltron, Thrissur. The session was handled by Ms. Shanija, faculty from Keltron who discussed all the matters related to GST

 

Orientation Program

 

An orientation program was organized for V sem B.Com students in association with Time institute on preparation for various entrance examinations including CAT,CMAT,GMAT etc.. The session was gave students insights on scope and job opportunities in management field

Orientation Program

An orientation program was organized on 13/06/2019 for the second year B.Com students in association with synergy institute, on digitalized working platforms and H.R development. The session was handled by Mr. Pradeep, faculty  from synergy institution in room number 845 from 10.30 to 11.30

Career Guidance Class for CMA

Department organised a career guidance class for 6th Semester B.Com students on 22/11/2018 from 2.00 p.m. to 3.00 p.m. The session was provided by the representatives ofThrissur chapter and the session was heade by Mr. Ram , Cost Accountant. The talk was on the professional course CMA. The session was a reminder about the importance of knowledgeable education.

Career Guidance Class by Aptech Learning Academy

A career guidance class was organized by the department for 6th Semester B.Com Students on 15/11/2018. The talk was conducted by Aptech Learning Academy, Bangalore. The resource persons for the talk were Ms. Sasikala, Mr. Santhosh, Mr. Raju, Ms. Aji Mathew and Ms. Shobana. The talk was inclined towards the career prospects.

Group Discussion to PG students 

A group discussion session was organized for 1st Sem M.com students on 25/09/2018 at 2.00p.m. by Resource person Mr. Biju Francis. A mock group discussion was conducted among the students on the topic “Education System in Kerala”. Also provided a platform for each students for one-to-one interview. Concluding the session by giving tips for the Group discussion and the interview.

Orientation Class on CMA

An orientation class on CMA USA was conducted by Vidyarupa School of Management Studies on 25th September 2018 to 5th Sem B.com students at Room No.305 from 1.00- 2.00 p.m. The primary aim is to help the students to improve their knowledge, skills, expertise and competence in finance and business.

Orientation program on “Certified Global Business Analyst”

An orientation program on “Certified Global Business Analyst” was conducted for the final year B.Com students on 28/06/18 in room number 303 at 9.30 am in association with “Mockmkan” a leading expert in the field. The class was handled by Mr. Mahesh, regional advisor of “Mokman” institute.

Workshop on International Financial Reporting Standards

A one day workshop was conducted for 5th Semester B.com Students on the topic IFRS by resource person CMA Sugunan T G, Chief Financial Officer, Brahmos Aerospace TVM. It was conducted on 8/10/2018.

AMOGHA

A Business Quiz, named ‘AMOGHA’ was organized by II year M.Com students for all commerce students on 19/7/2018

Investment Awarness Class

An orientation program on "investment awarness" was conducted for final year M.Com students by Department of Non-Banking Supervision, Reserve Bank of India, Thiruvananthapuram

Practical Accounting orientation 

An orientation program for practical accounting and G.S.T was conducted for the first and second year B.Com students on 12/07/2018. The class was handled by Mr. Omanakuttan from tax study centre, Ernakulam.

CA Awarness Class

An awareness class on C.A course was conducted on 5/07/2018 for the first year B.com students in association with ‘Manappuram professional Education Academy’. The class was handled by Mr. Gopi from MPEA institute Valappad

GST orientation 

An orientation program on “GST practitioners’ course” was conducted for final year B.Com students on 29-06-18 at 10.30 am in room number 306. Mr.Christopher basil, CEO of C.B.S institute handled the class covering topics such as GST in India, Tally accounts, VAT, quick books etc..

Career Guidance Seminar

A career guidance seminar was organized for the third semester B.Com students on 13-06-18 in new seminar hall at 10.30 am. The class was handled by Mr. Jomy, a renowned career guidance expert from IMS academy, Thrissur who discussed about various opportunities in commerce and management studies after B.Com.
