Mental Health Day Celebration

In connection with World Mental Health Day, the department of Psychology conducted  a talk on the topic “ Importance of Social Psychology in the contemporary world” on 14-10-2019 . The resource person for the day was Linda Davis, Former faculty of St. Mary’s college, Thrissur. She spoke about the scope of social psychology and discussed about the social problems.

Psychology Association Inauguration

Psychology Association was inaugurated by Dr Pradeep Saji, Joint Director, Department of Forensic Sciences, Police Academy, Ramavarmapuram on 21/06/2018 at 10.30 am. He delivered a speech on Scope of Forensic Psychology. He explained the techniques of Narco Analysis, Polygraph tests etc. He emphasized the role of empathy in our day to day life. Empathy should be developed among youth so that they can understand the basic needs and problems faced by the society.

A talk on “Adolescent Problems and its management” was delivered by Miss Aswathy Prasad, Consultant Psychologist, AMMA rehabilitation centre, Shornur. on 27/06/18 at 1.30 am . She discussed about the major problems faced by adolescents and suggested various ways to manage these problems. She pointed out the  adverse effects of social media on adolescents. Students ineracted with the resource person and it was a very active session.

In Connection with World Mental Health Day celebrations , the department of Psychology in Collaboration with Women Development Cell and UGC centre for Women Studies organised a Talk on awareness of Mental Health issues on 12-10-2017. The resource person of the programme was Dr.Praveen Lal, Professor in Psychiatry, Jubilee mission Medical College, Thrissur.

In connection with International Internet Day , the department of Psychology conducted an awareness talk to the Undergraduate students on December 19 , 2017. Mr Jayan Namboodiri, Director, Steps 4 Skills delivered the speech. He talked about the importance of internet in the present day and discussed the issues faced by youth due to internet addiction disorders.

In connection with Learning Disability Awareness month, the department of Psychology conducted a session on Learning Disability. The resource person for the day was Mr Jayesh, Consultant Psychologist, Co-operative hospital, Irinjalakuda on 10/10/2015. He explained about the mnemonics, learning methods etc and also discussed about the mental health problems associated with learning disability.

In connection with suicide prevention day, an awareness class on early signs and symptoms of suicide was conducted for graduate and undergraduate students on 15/09/2015. Dr Subrahmanian, Psychiatrist, Govt Mental Health Centre, Thrissur was the resource person for the day. He spoke about the warning signs and symptoms of suicide
